Jovain fertile plains have been located in the suburbs of sabzevar ,turning the region into an agricultural pole in the entire khorasan province .there are also 1346 deep agricultural wells here that produce some 757 million cubic meters of water per annum .there are some 368 semi – deep agricultural wells here producing 280 milion cubic meters of water per annum .1364kanats available in the region produce 227million cubic meters of water per year and 156springs that produce an annual 32million cubic meters of water .meantime , 46permanent and seasonal rivers here have an annual warer output of 157million cubic meters . the total amount of underground reserve and surface water extracts excced 1,480,000,000cubic meters per annum .42.5%of the population of sabzevar is engaged in the agricultural sector and the total area of lands under irrigated and dry farming cultivation is some 1208284 hectares . the total amount of the current Iranian years credits in the agricultural sector have gone to the production of wheat , barley ,sugar beat , cumin ,cotton , seed corn , watermelon , sunflower seed and colza . sabzevar is the second largest producer of wheat in the enrire khorasan razavi province and stands first in terms of production of irrigated barley , seed corn , suar beat , irrigated cotton , colza , pepper and irrigated watermelon
