Background
The oldest
habiat in sabzevar is an ancient area located in the vicinity of
sabzevar .Thescattered clay bricks remaining on the surface of this
compound belong to some 5to6 thousand years back .The appearance and
quality of the clays testify to the rich culture that once dominated the
region . These clays also reveal the very fact that the then residrnts
of this region used to maintain cultural relationships with the
civilized nations and tribes who inhabited Central Iran ,Sistan and
Central Asia .An extensive and large ancient area has also been
identified in the vicinity of Neghab town located in the jovain plain
which served to be home to a farming and industrialist community some
3to4 thousand years ago. Khorasan s grand highways Known as raah –e
shaahi ( Royal Road) , silk Road and the ritual road leading to Buda s
Temple all crossedJovain and sabzevar plains in the noeth and south of
this city. These routes linked the economic and cultural hubs of the
Orient to those in the Occident. The local economy and culyre had
experienced bloom owing to the existence of these roads there. Many
invading and migrating tribes opted to settle in these fertile plains as
their habitat. The late Hasan pirnia in his invaluable book entitled
"The History of AncientIran" argues that Jovainand sabzevar were
parthians territories before Arsacides took over .notwisthstanding the
narrations of Ebn-e fandogh who attributes the origin of sabzevar to the
era of the sassanids, the ancient documents and remains discovered in
this region testify to the fact that one of the four grand fire temples
of the ancient Iranians had once been built in this territory. The
remains of a stone –made square domein sabzevar s rivand mountains are
assumed to b elong to the "Azar Barzin Mehr"fire temple . muslims
conquered sabzevar in the year 30A.H.on that year , abdellah bin amer
kariz who had been assigned to conquer khorasan province , arrived in
Bayhagh via Kerman route and assigned Aswad bin Kolsum Adavi as ruler
of the region .the tyrannies practiced by the Ilkhanid Mongols and their
subservient officers in the late 736A.H. gave rise to sarbedaran s
revolt. The sarbedaran movement managed to free sabzevar from the yoke
of the Ilkhanid Mongols who ruled sabzevar and a major portion of
Khorasanfor over 50years
