Sabzevar is a major economic player in this region of the country because of its very particular location which bridges various provinces of the country via the silk road , Tehran – mashhad link road as well as its share of the production of such traditional products as cumin , watermelon seed cotton ,wool ,pickled skin and red meat .sabzevar is the second largest market in khorasan province with mashhad being first on the list .in 2002 alone , 2352.2 tons of cumin worth IR 206,300,000,000 was exported from sabzevar to Pakistan , Japan , UAE,Italy ,germany and canda .statistics released by the agricultural jihad reveal that in terms of the irrigated agricultural produce ,sabzevar stands second in khorasan province while in the production of barley , cotton ,sugar beat ,watermelon ,almond , and watermelon seed it ranks first and insofar as priduction of cumin ,dry farmed grapes and wall nut its stands second and in terms of production of wheat and hay sabzevar ranks third in the whole ptovince .although sabzevar constitutes only 7%of the total area and 8% of the population of khorasan province before partition ,over 15% of the total number of deep and semi – deep wells have been dug here .sabzevar is known for its animal husbandry industry .it stands first in terms of production of white of white meat in the entire province and supplies huge volumes of chicken and chicken meat to other areas .
